Stop Out Junior Newsletter - May 2008 PDF Print E-mail

Weather wise it’s been a mixed bag for the start of the season. Let’s hope it’s not a sign of things to come and we can get out there and enjoy more football. This newsletter is based around a number of upcoming events scheduled for the season. Please remember to update your calendar with some of the following dates.

Team Photos

These are booked in for the 23rd and 24th June. Each team will be scheduled between 6.00 – 8.00pm. Please remember to put this on your calendar. More details will be out shortly from your coach and manager regarding specific times and photo costs.

Goal Day (Goal-a-thon)

This is our first fundraiser for the year. We’ll be asking the children to get as many sponsors as they can in preparation for their soccer game on the 14 June.

To give you a sense of how it works; if ‘Granny Pickles’ sponsors young Johnny 50 cents per goal and Johnny’s team score 3 goals during their game on the 14th, Johnny will raise $1.50.

There will be a number of prizes up for grabs and if teams don’t score any goals on the day they get to take a shot or two against the coach in goal following their game.

Children will receive a sponsor sheet the week beginning June 1 at their practice along with more information about this fundraiser. All money raised will be going directly to the up-grade of junior equipment and gear.

Quiz Night

Our annual Quiz Night is booked in for Friday 25th July. We will send you more details closer to the date.

For those of you who have not been to a Stop Out quiz night before it is a fun-filled evening full of trivia questions and just as many laughs. We try and spice up the evening with loads of raffles and prizes. If you have something you or your business could donate (big prizes, little prizes, fun prizes or even bizarre prizes) please call Luke 566 9481.

Holiday Programme

Our annual Holiday Programme will again be available for our junior players during the July school holidays. We will have more details on the website and you will be able to download a registration form later in the term.

Park Locations

You can search for the location of a park through the Capital Football website (www.soccer.org.nz) under Grounds. One park which you won’t find there is Riverside Park and this has created some confusion. Riverside is on Harcourt Werry Dr between Avalon Park and Fraser Park. Do not get it confused with Riverbank Park which is in Upper Hutt.

Raffle

This will be our major fundraiser for 2008. We are still looking for a couple more prizes to add to this. If you or your business could help us with this please contact Brent Ph. 566 5543

Stop Out Football College

This is one of the most exciting new ventures for Stop Out. It has a number of goals for our children, which makes us stand out from other clubs in the region. Log on to the Stop Out website and check out the dates which could involve your child over the next couple of months. The Football College would also like to thank Seaview Recycling & Transfer Station for their on-going support.

Wynton Rufer Tournament

This is an annual tournament for the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th Grades. Each year Stop Out organises and runs this tournament, inviting a number of clubs from around the region and as far away as Wanganui. We have booked the first three Sundays in August for the event this year. Pop it on the calendar with more details coming closer to the time.

Contact Details

If for any reason your contact details should change during the season please let your coach know and s/he will pass this on to the committee. During the season we will be sending important information out to you and it helps if we get it to the right place.

Website – www.stopout.org.nz

This is currently going through a major upgrade and will become the best place for you to find dates and information about what is happening at Stop Out. The goal is to have a very user-friendly site that the children can check also. I t will be updated regularly so save it to your favourites now.

Committee

We are a small band of volunteers working to ensure it is an enjoyable season for all involved. A full list of committee members and contact details are available on our website.

Regards,

Stop Out Junior Committee.
