An inspired team performance saw the Red and Golds produce their best performance of the season against Central League side Western Suburbs. A solid defensive effort allowed our expressive midfield to dominate the game. A superb chip from Martin Packer and a trade mark clinical Steve Gulley finish from the edge of the box saw us take a 2 nil lead into the wind. However Wests scored just before half time when we failed to clear our lines so the game remained in the balance. Reduced to 10 men after the half we still dominated our opponents. With 25 to go we went ahead 3 - 1 with MOM Martin Packer scoring directly from a corner. Once Wests had a player sent off the contest was effectively over and we cruised to victory! It's here again. The 16th Annual Wynton Rufer Tournament proudly supported by REVERA IT.
Mark Paston and Ben Sigmund were the special guest stars at this years Wynton Rufer tournament. The weather gods were on our side and a total of 66 junior teams fought it out on the football field. Feedback suggests it was one of the best run tournaments in our 16 year history! Roll on 2013! |
At a time when the football press salivates about Messi, Ronaldo, RVP and others goal scoring feats we have in our midst our own goal machine.
Nicola Bowden scored her 100th goal in senior women's football on opening day of this season (April 9th) in a 4-4 draw with Tawa at Hutt Park. Her first came less than 3 years ago - on May 3rd 2009 in a 5-1 romp over Wellington Utd.
Of course, as you'd expect Nicola is quickly on her way to that second century - we've seen goals 101, 102 & 103 subsequently. |

It is with sadness we record the passing of one of our clubs stalwarts, John Coe. Like Dunn and McCreadie, the Coe name is synonomous with Stop Out. John played through junior and senior ranks helping the club to reach National League where he played as a full back. A man of few words... John epitomised everything about Stop Out with his tough uncompromising play even though he was normally the smallest guy on the park! From 1968 when our records began we note that John played 70 games for the 1st team until his retirement. John continued to support the club by coaching and playing in lower leagues for many years. John was 68.
